Answering A Call To Serve
On May 20, 2002, Angie Kardashian left her Tustin, California residence and headed for New York City.
After calling Tustin home for a quarter of a century, this highly accomplished businesswoman, philanthropist, and staunch supporter of the U.S. Marines stationed at MCAS-Tustin near her Orange County restaurant, left her house, family, church, and friends to launch a two-year self-funded cooking ministry for the FDNY.

“All three of the buildings that I had visited only about a month earlier, were attacked. I could have been one of the people who lost their life on that fateful day in September 2001.
The 9/11 attacks were the greatest mass murder in the history of the United States. The response was also, by far, the greatest rescue operation in our country — over 20,000 people were saved. Many stories of the tragedy and loss of life have become a part of every American’s life.
This event did not deal us a lethal blow – instead, it reminded us that the fight for freedom is not just fought on the battlefield. Our freedom cannot be dictated by terrorists; our country will always work to preserve it. With God’s help, we will prevail and become an even stronger nation.
Every tragedy brings stories of commitment, selflessness, and hope. I promised the hundreds of heroic members of the FDNY that I cooked for, that I would never let people forget 9/11.
My life’s mission has become to preserve the memory and legacy of not only the victims lost that day, but to also honor those who worked at the sites and are continuing to experience losses from their courageous efforts.”
